Entry into Austria
Entry possible without conditions:
People who are citizens of the following countries and family members living in the same household or who have their place of residence or habitual abode in one of these countries AND are traveling from one of these countries AND who have been to these countries or Austria in the last 14 days without exception can enter Austria (no molecular biological SARS-CoV‑2 test, no quarantine):
If no test can be presented, these persons have to arrange a molecular biological test for SARS-CoV‑2 within 48 hours.

From June 16, the borders to all EU, EFTA and EEA countries will open up for complete freedom of travel. Sweden, Great Britain, Spain and Portugal remain an exception.
We are opening the Austrian borders to all EU, EFTA and EEA countries with 4 important exceptions, namely Sweden, Great Britain, Spain and Portugal ”, explained Schallenberg. Spain is currently still keeping its borders closed, with freedom of travel to be restored on July 1. The borders with the other 3 countries would remain closed until further notice.

Current information from the Austrian government about border openings and easing travel restrictions
Austria has ended the internal border controls introduced by the corona to all neighboring countries except Italy. This also applies to entry by air.
The full opening of the Austrian borders applies to everyone,
- who enter Austria and have their place of residence or habitual residence in Germany, Liechtenstein, Switzerland, Slovakia, Slovenia, the Czech Republic or Hungary.
- or Austrian citizens or persons who are resident or habitually resident in Austria and who come to Austria from Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Germany, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary or Slovenia.
- There are no quarantine or test requirements for these people when entering Austria.

“14-day home quarantine” for passengers
As of March 20, 2020, new regulations apply when entering Austria by plane. Austrians have to go to a 14-day home quarantine after entering the country. The same applies to strangers who have a right of residence in Austria. Third-country nationals without a right of residence (even if they would otherwise be entitled to enter) who come to Austria by plane from outside the Schengen area are not permitted to enter.

Notification of passengers
Air carriers are obliged, upon request by the Federal Minister for Social Affairs, Health, Care and Consumer Protection, to immediately report to the district administrative authority that is responsible for the location of the airport, if they have registered in one of the Federal Ministry’s home pages in the 14 days prior to departure for European and international affairs, for which a travel warning is given in connection with the occurrence of SARS-CoV‑2 (“2019 new type of corona virus”), which have arrived at an airport in Austria.
